Special resolution is required for appointment of more than 15 directors. Any person can hold directorship in maximum 20 companies, whether it is Public Limited or Private Limited Company. As per current company laws, it is allowed to add or remove directors at any point of time, provided the number of directors allowed in a company is maintained. Any director can suo-moto resign or retire from directorship or any company. Removal of any existing director can be done by the board or shareholders, subject to statutory compliances, and the same is to be intimated to Registrar of companies (RoC), Ministry of Corporate Affairs within given timeframe.

DINis the Director's Identification Number, issued by the Registrar of Companies (RoC). This is a unique number being assigned to any person who is a director in a company or was a director in previous years. It usually takes 3-4 days to get DIN. Once DIN is allotted, it can be used for the lifetime of the director.
